4.FUTURE OF GROUP
The members decided to close the group due to a lack of village support and the fact there is no funding available for projects.
We will still support the village website and we thanked Neil Jeffereys for his commitment to this valuable resource. We are also grateful for all the contributions from local B & B’s and businesses and we hope you will continue to support the website. The contribution for this year will be £20 per business to cover the cost of the administration of the website. Gill stated she would be happy to accept payments in the shop.
We will also continue to organise the annual Roundhouse event which has proved to be more popular each year. We thank all those who have diligently helped to ensure this event is a huge success. We look forward to your continued support.
John thanked all the people who had been committed to the group and stated that we had accomplished 90% of the planned projects, which included; heating for the village hall, new surgery, roundhouse event and nativity figures, website, equipment for indoor bowling, pre-school resources and the gateway project.
The noticeboard outside the tile shop is available for groups to advertise events.
Although the group has had many discussions about the traffic through the village to Alton Towers we have not managed to solve this problem. However, the group made the decision to invest £300 in the new venture of the Churnet Valley Railway association which in future years may offer an alternative route to the theme park via the railway track once there is more information available.
5.FINANCIAL REPORT
At present there is a balance of £2,893.65 in the bank account, which is available to support community events and activities.
6.DATE OF NEXT MEETING – TUES 8TH NOVEMBER 7.45PM THE ROYAL OAK
