     MINUTES OF MEETING at the Royal Oak (7.45pm)   TUESDAY 15th September  2009
           1.    PRESENT: John Moorhouse, Pat Riesco,  Gillian Morrison, Sally Khadjenouri,   Henry Parker
           2.    APOLOGIES: there were no apologies,
      3.     MINUTES of July meeting: it was agreed check these at the November meeting as a copy was not available
       4.   MATTERS ARISING: We discussed the sample leaflet which will be used  to advertise the group and to help attract interest from  local groups & it was agreed to get Neil to produce 500 copies of each page. 
       5.    GATEWAY project –it was agreed to aquire suitable shrubs as  Gill had suggested for planting    rhododendrons and azaleas & other shrubs in specific areas of the village gateways that needed upgrading.
            6.   BEST KEPT VILLAGE project-John had gone to September’s PC meeting after it was mentioned that the Parish Council had not even entered Alton into the BKV . John had enquired of the £500 donation which was specifically for this competition & was informed by the PC that it had been used for the lengthsman to do extra work around    the village.      
        7.  WEBSITE- Neil has finished updating the website to make the management simpler for    the next web manager when the need arises. It does go from strength to strength.He has given John a list of the advertisers for him to try to get the donations in to cover the website costs.
          8.   Eastern access – as mentioned at the last meeting, there is to be a new appraisal and planning    directive for the area which involves a public consultation.
      John said that he asked the PC to ensure that they approach Barry Mycock to make sure that, as he had promised both the public & the PC, if he was re-elected he would put pressure on the County Council to include the eastern bypass in the new directive & make it a necessity if further planning applications on the Alton Towers Site are to be permitted.
      The PC had agreed to ask Barry Mycock to attend the October PC meeting in the    Village Hall.
             9.    Matters Arising- Henry said the pensioners group now had a constitution in place with help from SMDC which now made them eligible for funding. They are having another meeting on Thursday (17th) to discuss their application for this funding for their trips.So a successful outcome for their group if it makes their trips more affordable to all the pensioners in Alton.

           Tuesday 19th  Jan 7.45p.m.
           Friday 11th Dec 2009 Roundhouse event (to be confirmed)
